THE IDEA

On the 1st April 2021, Trengellick Rising was successfully financed through Kickstarter, achieving 145% of it's target. The project raised £6,550 from 103 different pledges from all over the world.

Trengellick Rising will be in Kernewek, the Cornish Language. In 2010, UNESCO announced that the former classification of the language as 'extinct' was "no longer accurate". Since then, there has been an increasing number of people bringing the language back to life. We're hoping to significantly contribute to these efforts & create a film that is one of the first of it's kind.

The film is a story of redemption, self-discovery and revenge. It’s gritty, raw and rough and around the edges. To help convey this visually we’ll be shooting on film. Black and white, 16mm celluloid and hand-processing the negative. It all adds to the nature of the story - it's rough, scratchy and has a visceral, tangible texture.
